Systems and Pricing

We offer a variety of systems, depending on how much bandwidth you need, and how many simultaneous connections you need to support. We'll give you a fixed price up-front, and that's the maximum you'll pay.

No nasty surprises.

Alpha

Our most portable system. Even goes where there are no roads.

Weatherproof and completely self-contained. Alpha carries enough on-board power for an entire weekend. This can be topped up with solar, from one our other systems if they're close by, or even 240v if it's available.

Secure mounting on a lightweight 4m mast raises the dish above many obstructions. Depending on atmospheric conditions, total bandwidth will be around 100 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. Supports at least 200 clients.

$750

per day

Bravo

Built upon "Gertie" — a 2015 Land Rover Defender, rescued from a bankrupt luxury resort and highly modified for reliability and capability — our Bravo system goes anywhere it's legal to drive. No matter how sketchy the track.

On board Ultra-X lithium power will last several days. And that's extended indefinitely with the rooftop solar panels.

In ideal conditions 220Mbps download and 20Mbps upload can be achieved. Wi-Fi 7 supports over 300 clients and provides more than 400m2 of coverage.

$1250

per day

Charlie

Our most capable system is carried by "Petey" a Haulmark PT1 trailer formerly owned by the 16th Aviation Brigade of the Australian Army.

With over 10kWh of battery power replenished by nearly 1kW of solar, and providing comfortable accommodation for our operator, Charlie is equipped for long-term off-grid events.

Up to 400Mbps of download bandwidth are provided by the Starlink Performance dish. Whilst enterprise-grade networking can provide Wi-Fi connectivity for 1000+ clients.

Travel Expenses

We are headquartered on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, in Queensland. Events within 100km incur no travel fees. Beyond that, we charge $1.50 per additional kilometer, as determined from Google Maps' directions. We don't charge for the return journey.

If we need to travel the day before your event, our operators are self-sufficient and can camp anywhere, so we don't charge for accommodation.

Bandwidth Limits

We don't explicitly enforce bandwidth or download limits, apart from those implicitly imposed by the connection infrastructure. But we do ask that you limit your usage based on a Fair Go policy. Please don't be downloading your copy of GTA VI from the middle of nowhere!

We reserve the right to throttle or deny-list clients who's usage is adversely affecting the service for other users.

Reducing Your Costs

By default we will configure a single "Adventure Comms Free" Wi-Fi network to which any of your attendees can connect, without any passwords, vouchers, or charges. But we can provide different configurations which allow you to raise your own revenue. For example...

Private and Vendors

A good option for events with admin staff and multiple vendors, such as food trucks or merch tents.

We will configure an "Adventure Comms Private" network with a password of your choice, that can be used by your administration staff.

Additionally we will configure an "Adventure Comms Vendors" network which will require single-use Vouchers in order to connect. We'll provide you with any number of valid Vouchers for this network which you can distribute to your vendors for a small charge of your choosing. Vouchers can be customized to support various expiration times, bandwidth limits, or data consumption quotas.

Public Captive Portal

We will configure an "Adventure Comms Public" network to which anyone can connect, but they must pay to use the Wi-Fi. The payment is handled by Stripe and the configuration can be customised for cost, expiration, and bandwidth limits. Any payments we collect will be deducted from your final invoice.

Service Levels

Of course we will do our very best to ensure that your connection is available at all times. And our operator will always be on site to provide hands-on support. But, sometimes, situations can occur that are out of our control.

Our Infrastructure

We use high-quality components and subscribe to the KISS Principle, but the unexpected can always occur!

Our operators will be constantly monitoring your network using a variety of tooling. If connectivity is adversely compromised for extended periods of time then we will reimburse you for the impacted period as a pro-rata amount of the daily (rolling 24 hour period) rate.

Starlink Service

Our Starlink connection requires a generally un-obstructed view of the sky to the south (counterintuitively!) of the event site. Our towers can clear many obstacles, but tall trees or geographical features can affect transmission.

Should extended outages of the Starlink infrastructure occur, we will raise the necessary tickets with SpaceX and pass on to you any reimbursements that we receive.

Backup Hardware

Generally there will be at least two of our systems on site, since Bravo is built-in to the vehicle we use for transportation. But only the system that you've paid for will be activated, unless that system totally fails. In which case we will either activate a higher tier system for no extra charge, or a lower tier system with corresponding reduction in the final invoice.

Additionally, our systems are modular and we carry a variety of spare components. Including 5G backup modems, although if you're in a location that requires our services then there probably won't be a cell signal!
